Chapman’s Peak Drive
Chapman’s Peak Drive is one of the most beautiful coastal drives in the world. It’s only 9km long but its 114 curves make it seem much longer as it winds its way between Noordhoek and Hout Bay. It climbs nearly 600m and provides visitors with plenty of opportunities to stop and admire the view. There are also plenty of hiking opportunities along the way.
Over the years the road has undergone a great deal of construction to make it safer, but it’s still closed during bad weather, particularly during the blustery and wet winter months. There is a toll road on the Hout Bay side to raise the funds necessary to keep it in good condition. Currently, motor cycles pay R19, Motor cars pay R30 and minibuses pay R40. There are no fees for cyclists or pedestrians.
Noordhoek Farm Village
If Noordhoek has a hub, it’s Noordhoek Farm Village. The village is a deceptively large compound that contains shops, galleries, restaurants and workshops. It also has a common where a number of live events are held. The village boasts three restaurants with excellent food in casual settings, two clothing shops, two curio/gift shops, a tack shop and a health and beauty salon.
Noordhoek Garden Emporium
The emporium is the largest nursery in Noordhoek. In addition to a wealth of plants and gardening tools and accessories, it also contains a wonderfully quaint coffee shop and a zen-like studio with yoga and Pilates classes.
The Red Herring Restaurant
The Red Herring is famous all over Cape Town. It’s changed hands a few times since it first opened its doors but has never lost its charm, or its award winning ways. Friendly staff go out of their way to see that your every need is met and the restaurant even makes it a joy for vegans to go out. The menu changes to accommodate the seasonal supply of fresh produce, but no matter what the season the pizzas are always a must.
Monkey Valley
Monkey Valley is luxury resort nestled on the mountain slopes in Milkwood Forest. It has gorgeous views of the sea, a restaurant with food to die for and amazing hiking opportunities. It’s absolutely necessary to visit the treetop pub, which is especially breathtaking at sunset.

Noordhoek is accessible via Ou Kaapse Weg and Kommetjie Road.
